Start with what the part must do: the load it carries, the faces that mate, the temperature it sees and the finish the user will touch. AIHFABS manufactures custom parts with industrial 3D printing and CNC machining. A useful manufacturing quote connects those requirements to a material, a process and an inspection plan.

An appearance model, a fit-check model and a load-bearing prototype can need different materials and processes. For repeat production, keep the approved CAD revision, drawing, material grade, finish and inspection requirements together. Discuss a first article before committing to the rest of the lot when assembly or cosmetic acceptance is still being validated.
Part size alone does not determine cost. Printing cost also depends on build orientation, packing, supports and finishing. Machining cost depends on stock removal, tool reach, setups, workholding and inspection. Specify tighter tolerances only where the function needs them, and identify surfaces that may retain process marks.
Supply a revision-controlled model and a drawing for critical dimensions, datums, threads, surface texture and cosmetic faces. State whether dimensions apply before or after finishing. Material certificates, dimensional reports, first-article checks and other documentation should be requested and confirmed in the quote.
