    Challenge:

The client required high-volume manufacturing of specialized cross-shaped metal connectors. Traditional CNC machining was inefficient due to the complex multi-axis geometry, which required multiple setups and fixtures. Additionally, achieving a uniform, high-quality surface finish on such intricate shapes was a significant bottleneck for mass production.

    Solution:

We utilized Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology to produce these connectors as single, integrated pieces, eliminating assembly needs.

Materials: We offered flexibility with Aluminum 6061 for lightweight applications and Stainless Steel 316L for high-strength requirements.

Post-Processing: To ensure a premium look and feel, parts underwent precision polishing to smooth surface roughness, followed by black anodizing (for aluminum) to achieve the sleek, matte black finish seen in the prototype.

    Results:

Design Freedom: Successfully manufactured complex cross-geometries without support structure issues.

Superior Finish: Achieved a consistent, high-end aesthetic with durable surface protection.

Efficiency: Significantly reduced lead times and unit costs compared to traditional multi-axis machining methods.
