Questions behind a delivered-cost comparison
Cost componentInformation needed
Manufacturing & finishingSame revision, material, quantity and surface requirements for each quote.
Packaging & transportDestination, shipment size, packing protection and requested shipping service.
Import duties & taxesPart description, material, origin, use and destination for review by the responsible customs party.
Delivery responsibilityWritten confirmation of who arranges freight, handles import clearance and pays import charges.

SET THE RESPONSIBILITY

Check the delivery basis before comparing totals

Two quotations can show different prices because they include different services.

Freight included

Confirm the destination and transport service. A freight-inclusive quote does not by itself establish that import duties and taxes are included.

Import charges included

If requesting a delivered-duty-paid arrangement, ask whether it is available for the shipment and confirm the quoted inclusions in writing.

Customer-managed import

Identify the receiving company, broker contact and importer responsibilities before dispatch. Keep document requirements with the purchase order.

GET THE RIGHT INFORMATION FIRST

Build a shipment brief that travels with the quote

Use one brief to connect sourcing, purchasing and receiving.

  1. Identify the part

Provide CAD or drawings, material, a plain-language description and intended use. Keep the description consistent with the actual goods.

  2. Identify the destination

Share the delivery country, postal code, receiving company and any specific import-document requests.

  3. Review quantity and timing

Compare shipment consolidation with the required arrival date. A cheaper freight option is not useful if it misses the build window.

  4. Confirm the quoted basis

Check currency, transport scope, packaging and responsibility for duties and taxes before releasing the order.

Bring the destination into the sourcing decision

Tell us where the parts are going, how they will be used and when they need to arrive.
