SOLUTIONS / FIT / JOIN

Order around the assembly, not just a list of parts

AIHFABS assembly and welding review

Ask AIHFABS to review custom components, joining requirements and assembly checks together. A complete assembly brief makes interfaces and responsibilities clear before parts are manufactured.

PLAN THE JOINT

Choose around access, material and serviceability

Mechanical assembly and welding create different manufacturing and inspection requirements.

Mechanical assembly

Review screws, locating features, threaded inserts and other hardware alongside the custom parts. Allow access for installation, tightening and future maintenance.

Define hardware specifications and who supplies each purchased component. Include torque, alignment or other acceptance requirements where they matter.

Welded assemblies

Identify the base materials, joint design, weld locations and required finish. Discuss access, heat distortion and features that may need machining after joining.

Welding method, fixture needs and inspection requirements require an assembly-specific feasibility review before quotation.

FROM BOM TO A COMPLETE BUILD

Separate the inputs that determine the assembly scope

Give each item a clear source and each operation a clear owner.

CHECK THE RESULT AS AN ASSEMBLY

A correct part can still create a poor fit

Inspect the interfaces and function after joining, rather than relying only on individual part measurements.

Alignment & tolerance stack

Review the combined effect of mating dimensions. Locating features and clearances should support repeat assembly without forcing components into position.

Joining effects

Account for insert installation, fastening loads, bonding or weld distortion. Protect surfaces and dimensions that must stay within the drawing requirement.

Functional acceptance

Agree on movement, access, leak or load checks as applicable to the product. Confirm test equipment, criteria and documentation with the project team.

Start with the assembly model and BOM

Include custom parts, purchased hardware, joining notes and the checks that define a working assembly.
